Creation Story
Company founder Miles Overn found himself channel surfing late one night, way back in the 90s, and stumbled across the tail end of Carlos Santana guesting on The Tonight Show. The musical guest almost always performs in the very last segment, and on this night Overn
landed on the channel with maybe 10 seconds of Santana's performance left. That was it. 10 seconds! There may or may not have been an expletive deletive uttered, but there was definitely some major disappointment involved.
Having been a Santana fan for decades, and also being a recognized Microsoft MVP on internet technologies who knew what was possible even back then, Overn asked himself the question that would lead to the creation of Global Eidentities as a fully data-driven mechanism for surfacing
event and appearance information on the web. What question, you ask! "Why didn't I know about this!?"
As a musician himself, albeit an amateur one, Overn had also been a promoter, a venue manager, a gigging musician, a studio musician and a life-long music fan. He determined in that moment to utilize his decades of experience as a computer programmer, along with his love of music and awareness
of many of the challenges artists, bands, managers, venues, and everyone in the industry faced, to develop a system of fully integrated applications and websites that would allow artists to get their music and their message out to their fans, and those fans to find it.
First Feature? Upcoming TV appearances may not have been the very first feature written, but it wasn't far from it.
Over the course of building out and contributing content to Global Eidentities, Overn has photographed, reviewed and interviewed artists and bands in the U.S. and in his native Canada. How many? Well over 1,000 musicians and bands at last count. His photos have been used by artists on
their physical product, in their social channels, and on their sites. Interviews and reviews have been quoted from. The same passion that led him to create the whole thing to start with, drives him to keep finding new ways to deliver more, and richer, content to other music fans around the world.
