Team Announcements
Peter Grainger to join the fold
Multi-award winning broadcast journalist Peter Grainger, who has spent his career covering both hard news as well as the music scene, is set to get on board. Peter will be reviewing live shows and recorded music, as well as penning articles on different aspects of the music industry.
Photographer Duane Overn to cover Alberta market.
Long a sports enthusiast and motorsports photographer, Overn got the bug for concert photography while guest shooting a couple shows at a festival just a year ago. He marvelled at the speed at which things happen on the live music stage, and has embraced the challenge of capturing some of it.
Creation Story
Global Eidentities sprang to life after company founder Miles Overn was channel surfing late at night back in the late 90s and came across the tail end of Carlos Santana guesting on The Tonight Show. Long a Santana fan, and also a recognized Microsoft MVP on internet technologies, Overn asked himself the question
that would lead to the creation of Global Eidentities as a fully data-driven mechanism for surfacing event and appearance information on the web the moment it was discovered. What question, you ask! "Why didn't I know about this!?"
As a musician himself, albeit an amateur one, Overn had been a promoter, a venue manager, a gigging musician, a studio musician and a life-long music fan. He determined to utilize his decades of experience as a computer programmer, along with his love of music and awareness of many of the challenges
artists, bands, managers, venues, and everyone in the industry faced, to develop a system of fully integrated applications and websites that would allow artists to get their music and their message out to their fans, and those fans to find it.
Over the course of building out and contributing content to Global Eidentities, Overn has photographed, reviewed and interviewed artists and bands in the U.S. and in his native Canada. How many? Well over 1,000 musicians and bands at last count. His photos have been used by artists on
their physical product, in their social channels, and on their sites. Interviews and reviews have been quoted from. The same passion that led him to create the whole thing to start with, drives him to keep finding new ways to deliver more, and richer, content to other music fans around the world.
